A poem for my grade shool bestfriend.
I’m smart but you’re smarter.
I’m pretty but you’re prettier.
I’m naughty; you’re nice and friendly.
You were so sweet and loving… While I am nothing!
In school,
Teacher called the honor roll
We were on the list,
I was the second best, but you were the best of the best.
I never envy you, I just love you…
You were my very best friend,
In childhood years you stood by me till the end,
I smile, you smile. When I cry, you cry…
As you glance in me every morning…
“How are you? Did you sleep well?”
Your tears were flowing,
Knowing that my wounds and bruises were aching.
You said, you will never ever forget
Those bruises and wounds you witnessed every morning…
As I look at you beaming,
You wonder how I am feeling.
We were little girls
But, I am the only girl with broken wings
The only girl full of anger,
The only girl, heart filled with hatred and despair.
My father was cruel and made my skin blue
And so your heart was too,
I smiled at you and whispered: “I’m ok”,
“Don’t worry”,
“I will always be happy”,
“Because I have you with me”.
We were young and innocent
Fresh and full of strength
Time flew and we parted!
So long my very best friend.
We were the best, hoping we are still the best of friends
Life was too cruel;
After decades of being apart,
We met and right from there I got you hurt.
I changed, You changed.
We changed, as the world changed!
How can I explain?
How can I say my thing?
Will you still listen?
Even though, I got your heart broken?
I didn’t mean to hurt you.
I didn’t mean to use you.
I was a victim too,
Just like you.
I will never blame you for being angry,
Wanting me to be obsolete in your memory.
My best friend, if I could bring back the time
I’d rather die,
Than hurting you with someone else’s lie.
I’m pretty but you’re prettier.
I’m naughty; you’re nice and friendly.
You were so sweet and loving… While I am nothing!
